My primary skillset is as a training and development professional, in the areas of wellbeing, resilience, mental health and capacity, adult safeguarding and cognitive conditions and disorders.
Prior to this, I undertook a year’s sabbatical at a world-renowned neuro-psychological rehabilitation centre in the field of acquired and traumatic brain injury, to inform my knowledge of best practice.
As an associate dean of postgraduate medicine for the University of London and NHS for many years, my role was to provide support and education for over 8,000 hospital doctors in the areas of stress management, maintenance of mental and emotional health (when under extreme duress) and the design, development and implementation of strategies and training courses, to promote wellbeing and resilience, in what is a particularly stressful profession.
Because of this experience, in the early to mid 2000’s, I was commissioned by several large corporate transactional law firms, to provide wellbeing training and support services for staff who were struggling to dissipate extreme levels of workplace stress. This was employing a firefighting approach (after the event), which I found counter-intuitive to more successful preparatory strategies, such as those now employed at Bluewindow Training.
With full qualified teacher status (QTS) in the UK and additional qualifications and experience in providing further and adult education, I am well placed to research, design, develop and deliver learning opportunities that Bluewindow Training offers to the commercial marketplace.
Other academic qualifications, that help me to give context to the training topics, include a degree in sociology and societal structures and a postgraduate master’s degree in communications.
From 2004-2007, I undertook part-time studies in acupuncture and other related practical therapies, to understand the Eastern approach to health and wellbeing. I hold the Licentiate in Acupuncture, which is fully recognised by both the British Acupuncture Council (BAC) and the British Acupuncture Accreditation Board (BAAB). Although I no longer practice these therapeutic interventions, my knowledge of them gives greater depth to the wellbeing aspects of all Bluewindow Training events.
